Data la sua lunga battaglia con la malattia di Lyme, Avril Lavigne conosce una cosa o due riguardo al trattamento di una malattia potenzialmente letale. Pertanto, non sorprende che la pandemia COVID-19 abbia colpito nell’anima la cantante.
Avril spera di contribuire agli sforzi degli operatori di soccorso rilasciando una versione rielaborata di “Warrior” – uno dei singoli del suo album Head Above Water – il 24 aprile.
“Da quando il nostro mondo è stato capovolto alcune settimane fa, ho visto tutti i giorni persone che indossano la loro armatura e vanno in battaglia”, scrive la 35enne sui social media. “Compiti semplici come recapitare la posta sono diventati uno sforzo eroico.”
“Volevo essere coinvolta in questa battaglia e contribuire in qualche modo, quindi ho lavorato in studio per dedicare una canzone a tutti voi”, continua. “Ho ri-registrato ‘Warrior’ in modo da riflettere il nostro periodo e tutte le incredibili cose eroiche che state facendo tutti voi. A tutte le persone che lavorano in ospedale, nelle poste, nei negozi di alimentari, ai poliziotti e pompieri, a tutti quelli che hanno sofferto. Questo è per voi.”
Avril ha poi spiegato come verranno utilizzati i proventi della canzone.
“Donerò i proventi netti di questa canzone a Project HOPE, un’organizzazione incredibile che è in prima linea per proteggere i medici e il personale medico in tutto il mondo”, rivela l’hitmaker.
Una buona causa, bentornata Avril.
