Secondo le parole della stessa artista, la sua musa ispiratrice per questo neonato singolo è stata Christina Aguilera: “Adoro Christina, è stata una delle mie prime icone; avevo 11 anni e non riuscivo a togliermi il suo nome dalla bocca, lei è molto speciale per me, sono cresciuta con le sue canzoni.”

Significato di Bed chem
Partiamo dal titolo. “Bed chem” non è altro che l’abbreviativo di “bed chemistry”, ovvero letteralmente la “chimica a letto”. Il singolo di Sabrina Carpenter ruota proprio attorno a questo concetto: la cantante racconta infatti di aver incontrato un ragazzo durante una festa (forse l’attore Barry Keoghan, anche se non ci sono state conferme da parte della diretta interessata) e di sognare, da quel momento, di avere un rapporto sessuale con lui, fermamente convinta della loro passionale compatibilità fisica.
